Money is like a pregnancy
A man founded a bitcoin hardware wallet company. He did not show off on social media. He was a simple man building a business. He was kidnapped and his finger was cut off in an attempt to extort bitcoin from his business partner and family in exchange for his freedom.
Another man went to a card game, told his friends (the same friends he had always played with) about how much he had made in crypto, and a short while later his home was broken into by masked men demanding crypto in exchange for not killing him and his family (one of the friends from the card game orchestrated the whole thing).
A young man got drafted into the NBA and signed a contract worth tens of millions. Like always, this news was announced around the world. A woman made him her target, she slept with him, made sure to get pregnant, and once she had his baby, she was set for life financially (child support for life. Big checks from a rich basketball player).
Finally, a blogger traveled to a South American country, when he landed, he saw a man with a sign with his name on it ready to pick him up at the airport. The problem was, he had hired a company to pick him up and given the company a fake name. So how could they have a sign with his real name? He suspected something was wrong. So he told the driver to wait while he made a phone call. He pretended to make a call to pass the time. Roughly ten minutes later, another man showed up to pick him up from the airport. The second man had the correct fake name that the blogger had given the company.
When the first driver saw the second driver, the first driver ran away and got into his car and drove off. It turns out, there are gangs that pay airline staff and obtain lists of passengers on every flight to that country. Those gangs then do Google searches for each name to find out who is famous and may have money. They then pretend to be your driver and pick you up from the airport. Only to demand money in exchange for you life.
Money is like a pregnancy. You can try to hide it, but eventually it will show. Take your security seriously. Do not go overboard with so much security that you attract attention. But once you get rich, take your security seriously.
