ID: Chapter 1

For those who have been following me for a long time, you know my life long dream has always been to publish a novel.

After years of neglect, I challenged myself (or my sons did) to finally finish it by the end of 2026, and I ended up actually producing a readable draft earlier this year. I couldn't help but feel like I'd made real progress for the first time in years.

But then I got sidetracked by launching this site, and I've found it difficult getting back to my book ever since. With only five months left in the year, I realize I'm running out of time. So I've decided to start publishing my next draft here, one chapter at a time. (For the two people who paid to read earlier versions of chapter 1-3, sorry about the false start.)

The primary goal is for me to get to a draft that brings me one step closer to publication and creating content for this site at the same time.

I'm aiming to publish 2 chapters a week. One on Sundays, and another on Thursdays. If the book is 25 chapters, that would mean the last chapter gets published on November 1st, leaving me exactly 2 months to edit and polish before December 31st.

I know this isn't how books normally get written, but all I care about at this point is finishing in time and hopefully it's good enough to be something I can be proud of.

I'll try to write a little something like this in the preview as I release each chapter, and feel free to leave feedback in the comments if you're so inclined. Any constructive criticism is welcome.
