Pavel Durov says Telegram will roll out a non-custodial wallet called Gram to its messaging app, calling it "the largest rollout of a non-custodial crypto wallet in human history," reaching over a billion users. Non-custodial is the correct word to watch, not the user count. A billion accounts means nothing if the keys sit with the app instead of the person. If Telegram truly never holds the keys, the wallet is just a nicer interface over the same math. If it can restore access, reissue a wallet, or freeze one, the trust it removed elsewhere it kept for itself.
